Mastering

Mastering is performed on-site at Bob Klotz Audio Productions.

Mastering is performed entirely in the digital domain with a Macintosh MacPro Quad Core, using a variety of software packages (Pro Tools, Digital Performer, DSP Quattro, Peak), depending on the need.  Software plug-ins from Brainworx, FabFilter, PSP, DrMS, Izotope and others provide the actual processing power for dynamic processing, equalization, noise reduction, limiting, and other treatments.

The primary monitoring system is a pair of KRK 7000B monitors powered by a Hafler P230 amplifier, and a Paradigm subwoofer.  Various other monitors by Hafler, JBL, and Soundcraft are used for additional sound references.

Your mixes may be sent in the following formats:

  • CD-ROM preferably containing 24-bit 44.1 kHz to 96kHz audio files (SDII, WAV, or AIFF)
  • Audio Compact Disc
  • DAT
  • 1/4" analog 1/2 track or 1/4 track tape
  • PCM F1

A typical mastering project requires 5 to 6 hours to complete.
